Humanities Fashion Decade Project in "What is Beauty?" Unit

Directions:  You are to research a period in history (decades in America, or a specific time period in another country, or your own ethnic heritage) in relation to historical events (war/peace, famine, plagues/disease, natural disasters, etc.), socio-economic conditions, religion, politics, and cultural icons.  Then look specifically at the fashion.  Analyze the trends with an understanding of the perspective of the times.  How was beauty defined?  How did women or men attempt to showcase their beauty/style?  Why?  What statement is the fashion making?  Why?  Then plan an oral presentation that summarizes your findings in a interesting manner that will capture your audience’s attention (Prezi's, Powerpoints, Films, Videos, or other forms of digital/artistic presentations are encouraged)

You need to supply a complete Works Cited with perfect MLA format.  Your minimum source number is 5.  I want to see books as well as web sites.  You will then present this information via an oral presentation that is both interesting and engaging.  The following list is meant to inspire your imagination; you are welcome to make your own suggestions for your research. The rubric follows the list.
