CC.9-10.R.L.1Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

Assignment: You are to write a 5-7 page paper in which you analyze each character in terms of his symbolic meaning.  Remember:  Lord of the Flies is an allegory that can be interpreted many different ways:  political, biological, religious, social, psychological, or historical interpretations are all possible.  Use your Character Journals (homework) and class discussions for reference. Be sure to provide specific quotes from the novel, parsing, and research to back up your analysis of each character’s symbolism.

      Additionally, we will be doing peer editing in class to help with your final draft.  This will be a guided peer editing activity with a writing reflection.  These activities will help you write the best essay you are capable of writing if you do the work conscientiously and with regard to time management.
